Faith and Postmodernism
Although there is much controversy surrounding what we should do about Jesus Christ, one thing everyone agrees on is that he created the biggest stir among mankind ... ever ... nothing impacted the world like he did. We desire to be "like" Jesus -- but what does that mean? To answer this, we have to know what Jesus is like, and explaining that is no simple task (or is it?)
Before we can understand the nature of Jesus Christ, we have to determine our frame of reference or, better stated, the "context of our thinking," and that context today is referred to as postmodernism. Postmoderism emerged in the mid-20th century as a response to modernism and continues to influence contemporary culture and thought. Postmodernism is characterized by skepticism toward established norms and the blending of various styles and ideas. This is important because we all have presuppositions that bias the way we process information.
